Isn’t technology amazing?
Introducing a must-have for all high school students - the Texas Instrument’s TI-Npsire Graphing Calculator.
From the site: TI-Nspire handheld is the latest in learning technology from TI, creating a dynamic dimension for students to visualize concepts and take an engaging, interactive role in their learning. Features include:
Multiple Representations - you’re able to see multiple views of the same solution, giving you a different perspective on things.- Linking Representations - multiple representations can be linked together so that if you change one, it will reflect on all screens.
- Data and Statistics - allows teachers to input and organize statistical data for students to explore on their own.
- Grab-and-Move - “grab” a line and move it to see how it affects the overall outcome.
- Save and Review Work - you’re able to save your work and pick up where you left off at a later date.
- Press to Test - stop potential cheating by temporarily disabling all current documents and denying access to programming libraries.
These are just the basics of what this amazing gadget can accomplish. It also comes with an interchangable keyboard which makes this unit compatible with the TI-84 and is accepted when taking the SAT, ACT, PSAT/NMSQT and AP exams PLUS Praxis and IB exams when used with the TI-84 Plus Keypad.
Give your children an educational head-start by introducing them to the Texas Instruments TI-Nspire. Units may be purchased at almost any school supply store or purchased through Amazon.com for $125.00.
Cowgirl Critiques: As a parent, my favorite function of course is being able to check my son’s answers. I can type in the problem with his answer and it will say true or false. LOVE IT! Something that my husband found useful was being able to enter in sizes of boards and such and the size of what he wanted to build and it told him exactly how many boards he needed to build it.
SAHM Reviews: Let me say, the calculator itself is just phenomenal. As a former accountant, I had to be careful not to short it out with all my drool. The times of needing two different calculators are gone (IE scientific versus financial) with the TI nspire wrapping it into one - with interchangeable faceplates.
A Mom Speaks:
An Island Review: A while ago, I had the opportunity to review the TI-84 so I was glad to see that the TI-Nspire had an attachable keyboard that allows it to be used on exams that permit TI-83 Plus/TI-84 Plus family graphing calculators, such as SAT, ACT, PSAT and AP exams. I feel that if you’re going to spend a lot of money on something, it should be flexible in it’s usage.
Win it!

I like that it is accepted on all the exams. I searched for just the right one for my daughter and it was a TI-83. Now it’s my son’s turn, and he needs a new graphing calculator for his classes that will be accepted on the exams as well. It would be great to win one.
September 28th, 2008 at 7:08 am
you can do so much with this… it’s amazing
September 28th, 2008 at 7:19 am
I remember back in the 50’s when the first hand held calculators came out and my brother just had to have one of Texas Instruments first ones. It was sort of clunky but he loved it and we all marveled at it and it was terrily expensive for the day. Looking at the ti-inspire all I can say is “You’ve come a long way baby.” Think this will make a nice xmas gift for my older grandaughters and possibly the 5 year old also as she has to have everything her sister has.

Teachers know the power of visual learning, especially when applied to the symbols of algebra. TI-Nspire adds an interactive new dimension as graphs, tables, and equations come to life in the hands of their students.

October 6th, 2008 at 11:16 am
Geez… What a function! That little baby has the ability to teach you by showing you the calculations step by step!
By far the best feature, this quells my fear of allowing my child to use one of these. If it’s going to reiterate what he’s taught and teach him the steps. what’s there to argue with?
Texas Instruments has consistently been a leader in technology and this is no different!
October 6th, 2008 at 5:24 pm
It’s great that the teacher can download data to the students’ calculators. What a time saver!

Terrific Prize. I would like to surprise my highschool son with this
October 8th, 2008 at 7:28 am
the ti connect-to-class software for the ti-nspire would allow a teacher to send assignments directly to the calculator.
October 8th, 2008 at 8:57 am
Certainly is advanced from the old slide rule I used. This is great for teaching an old slide rule user and his engineer son some new techniques and see the upgrades from days gone by.
October 8th, 2008 at 5:17 pm
Is instructions included?
October 8th, 2008 at 9:37 pm
I like how you can connect with the teacher
October 9th, 2008 at 8:38 am
I really like the programmability and expandability. Even as a math teacher, this may be the last calculator I ever have to purchase.
October 9th, 2008 at 10:23 am
I like that it saves data. My 11 year old is taking Algebra. I am so proud of him and would love to give him this wonderful calculator.

I am impressed by the fact that you can transfer info and the TI Connect to Class feature.
October 9th, 2008 at 9:36 pm
My son could really use this for school, the feature I like the best would be the 3-D angles
October 10th, 2008 at 1:48 am
I need this, please. That is all.
October 10th, 2008 at 2:35 am
Wow. Times have changed since the original 4 function calculator that was the size of a small messenger bag. I like the multiple simultaneous display in order to see and compare/contrast perspective.

Compared to what we had not that many years ago, these calculators are amazing - not just graphing, but it’s like having a mini computer in your pocket!
October 10th, 2008 at 12:23 pm
Both of my children still at home, 12 and 16 are both in advanced classes at school, in sports, in band, marching band and also take online advanced classes. We just bought our daughter a calculater which cost $125.00 and now she has been switched to a another advanced math class and my 12 year old who is in 7th grade is now taking 9th grade math. So we need something that can fulfill all the math situations and classes for both our kids without having to buy and have them using a different calculator for each problem. The TI-Nspire does it all. with so many options this will make both kids happy and stress free doing all the home they have.
Also it will help my 16 year old with her college exams as she wants to be a pedatric surgeon and is now planning for all those exams and requirements for college.
Thank you for the chance to win a awesome prize for my childrens education.

October 10th, 2008 at 2:15 pm
I tutor math and this would be so helpful to have at my house to help the students understand how graphs work.
October 10th, 2008 at 3:00 pm
I like the graphing capabilities It would have came in handy when I was in school.
October 10th, 2008 at 3:18 pm
The nspire would be useful for house building when I volunteer with Habitat for Humanity.

Detachable Keyboard
October 10th, 2008 at 6:11 pm
What a great calculator. I love the fact that it shows problems in multiple representations. This can be very helpful in understanding the more tricky problems.
October 10th, 2008 at 6:34 pm
I love the downloadable tutorials and activities that go with this one. My daughter just broke her calculator and I can’t really afford a new one so I have my fingers crossed!
October 10th, 2008 at 7:05 pm
I like that it has a “save” feature.
October 10th, 2008 at 7:23 pm

I love that the size of the screen is so large and easy to read!
October 10th, 2008 at 8:22 pm
I think having the multi-view options is really handy. My youngest is a college student and this would be very useful.
October 10th, 2008 at 8:31 pm
The ability to approach math problems graphically, in particular the ability to link together different ‘viewpoints’ into the same problem, can be THE key for some kids being able to finally understand the relationship between some kind of change over HERE and a completely different type of change over THERE.
Also, since different kids can have wide variations in how they pick up different kinds of information, having a tool that lets you explore those preferences can lead to breakthroughs in “ahah, she understands it if you approach it like [this]” — and suddenly life is good! Thx!
October 10th, 2008 at 8:46 pm
There are some kinds of problems (more and more as you get higher and higher in school, and into college) where being able to “window IN to” the problem from several different directions can make all the difference in avoiding pitfalls and getting the correct answers — awesome, when you are able to test intermediate choices before wasting too much time somewhere, on your way toward a solution.
For example, in closed-loop control theory, the ability to easily tweak initial assumed values for critical elements can make the difference between instability and graphically converging on a usable answer.
And being able to SEE that adjustment, and thereby developing a ‘gut feel’ for what’s happening, is incredibly valuable and extremely powerful.
“With great power comes great responsibility” — nothing left to hold you back, so what in the whole world do you want to do with yourself now??
October 10th, 2008 at 8:52 pm
I find that saving your work is the most interesting feature about the calculator.

I like that you can save the work
October 10th, 2008 at 10:40 pm
I really like that is shows you the various solutions to the same answer. So often if one way does not click for a student, another will. My daughter is in a college prep charter high school trying to prepare for a science doctorate in college. This would be a wonderful blessing to our family!
October 11th, 2008 at 12:08 am
I think the grab and move feature is pretty cool.
October 11th, 2008 at 12:24 am
I didn’t know that you could use them on all the tests like the SAT,ACT etc. Seems like a really useful tool that my daughter could use.
October 11th, 2008 at 4:38 am
The graphing feature would come in very handy.
October 11th, 2008 at 6:28 am
It is cool how you can lock it when taking a test so you can cheat and its not very cost worthy
October 11th, 2008 at 7:11 am
I love the fact that teachers can input info for the students too.
October 11th, 2008 at 7:40 am
I like the Multiple Representations feature. It will give you a better perspective on the problem you are working on.
October 11th, 2008 at 8:11 am
This calculator is simply amazing. I love the connect to teacher feature. Thank you so much for the great giveaway!
October 11th, 2008 at 8:14 am
Since my daughter is currently doing Data Analysis in math the Data and Statistics would be real handy!
October 11th, 2008 at 8:44 am
IT’S GREAT YOU CAN SAVE YOUR WORK AND CAN INTERFACE WITH THE HOME COMPUTER.
October 11th, 2008 at 8:59 am
I think that my favorite feature of this product is the ability to start, stop and go back to anything not completed. My two “children”, who are in college, seem to start, stop and go back to their assignments quite often. This would help them tremendously. Thanks for this chance.
October 11th, 2008 at 9:05 am
Love the grab and move, all the features are awesome.

October 11th, 2008 at 9:24 am
My favorite feature is that you’re able to save your work and pick up where you left off at a later date. I dont think I have ever seen that available on a calculator before.
October 11th, 2008 at 10:16 am
Save and Review Work would be a great feature. If I won this it would go to my teenage son. He has a little trouble staying on task for long periods of time. This would help him immensely.
October 11th, 2008 at 11:40 am
The ‘grab and move’ function is outstanding. I’ll be able show my tween daughter interactions that I otherwise would spend hours trying to explain. Wished I had this when I was taking my physics classes in college.
October 11th, 2008 at 12:38 pm
i love the detachable keyboard feature
October 11th, 2008 at 1:58 pm
