At first the directions were a bit confusing to understand however once we got the hang of it we were on a roll. It’s one of those games where everything falls into place once you start playing.
Hand and Foot Canasta is perfect for 4 players although more can play as long as you have an even number of players. The games includes 4 decks of cards for 4 times the fun. The cards have been created with point values pictured on them for easy play and learning. We had a blast and I truly cannot wait until we get together to play again.
Priced at less than ten dollars, Hand and Foot Canasta is the perfect gift and holiday stocking stuffer. It’s a great twist on the classic Canasta game!
What our reviewers think:
The Clan McLeod: After taking a couple of hands to get accustomed to it, we had a lot of fun and hope to play again soon! If your family enjoys playing games together, try it out! Like us, you’ll soon discovered that Canasta isn’t just for old folks!
Mom Giveaways: This past weekend was my brother’s birthday so when we went to his birthday dinner I brought the game along. We quickly got a group of four to play and started playing. Once we played a couple of rounds and got the hang of things we started to really enjoy the card game. I really enjoyed playing Canasta Hand & Foot and I’m looking forward to the next time my family can get together to play.
The way I see it: We are big time game players at our house. We love board games, Wii and card games alike. Even our young grandchildren enjoy playing games. I’m a firm believer that playing games teaches sportsmanship because everyone, occasionally, must learn to loose graciously.
An Island Review: I have to admit that I was a little confused at first but after reading the rules a few times, I realized that it was very similar to Gin Rummy except that the groups of cards that you put down are a little different. The whole goal of the game is to beat your opponent by scoring more points. You score points by melding cards, and making as many canastas as possible. A canasta is a meld of at least seven cards of the same rank.
Our Seven Qtpies: I tested it out with the ladies at Ladies Night Out. It was really a fun game, and easy to learn. Only two of us had played Hand and Foot before. Now, if you know anything about Canasta games, everyone has their own rules, so that was fun, deciding which of our rules applied, lol. The game does have a very complete set of rules, and they are easy to follow and learn.Forgetfulone: The instructions are a bit confusing, but once you get going, everything falls into place.Just a Mom’s take on things: Partner games like this one are always a blast since there’s interaction between the partners and with the opposition – I think that Hand and Foot Canasta would be a fun party game.3 P’s Mama Says: We will most certainly play Canasta Hand & Foot game by Marina Games again - maybe during our annual New Year’s Games.

Oh my goodness! My mom and I have been looking for canasta cards forever! My aunt has a set that has the point values on it and we can’t find them anywhere (she’s not sure where she got them). Anyway, please, please, please enter me in your contest! I’ve played canasta a couple of times, but mom plays it with my aunts quite often. I would love to get this for a Christmas gift for Mom!

back in 1954, canasta was a card game that everyone in my family played and we even played teams. Children these days do not seem to think cards much fun, but we grew up playing crazy 8, solitaire, old maid etc.

I’ve never played canasta before. But it sounds like a great family game. We could really use something like this for the holidays. My neighbor buys a new board game each year so that the family will spend the day bonding instead of heading off in different directions. My kids are getting old enough to make this a tradition for us and canasta would be a great addition.

I have been playing since I was 8. Taught my kids and now my grandkids, I play online, I love the game.
November 16th, 2008 at 10:10 am
I learned to play Canasta when I was in grade school. We all brought lunch in our lunch boxes and ate in the lunch room. The secretary, who we called “Jeannie in the Office”, taught me to play and we played every day. When I moved away, I never played it again. A couple of years ago, my Mom, who is 87, and a Senior Life Master Duplicate Bridge player, and who taught us to play hearts and other card games, said she had a new game to teach us called Hand and Foot. She had the directions written out on a piece of paper. We have been playing ever since, but until today, I didn’t know it was a form of Canasta!

I played canasta all the time with a group of friends when I was a kid. As I got older, I’d try to get others to learn so we could play, but everyone considered it their Grandma’s game. By now, I barely remember how to play — about all I can recall is “melding” to open. But I don’t know what the meld is.

I have never played Canasta but we love playing games!

When I was younger my friend’s mom taught us to play canasta, we used to play just about every weekend. Later when I was older my new neighbors played hand and foot, it’s a great way to spend time with family and friends. Just out of curiosity for those of us that don’t win, where can we purchase it?

I’ve never played before. I guess I always thought that and bridge were for ‘old folks.’ Guess I’m starting to get up there.

I’ve never played Canasta before. My inlaws keep trying to get me to learn but I’m just not hat motivated. I’ve always thought of it as an “old person’s game”! I know… I’m stereotyping! I’m sorry! I have played a card game hand and foot before but I’m not sure if its the same thing. Count me in for the giveaway though!

We’ve enjoyed playing canasta with our friends. But its been such a long time I don’t remember the rules anymore.
